If you are looking for something to take to bed with you to read then this is certainly the book to cuddle and snuggle with. From A-Z you will find so many interesting and unique facts, trivia and other information that you will find it hard to put it down to sleep.

I decided that I would read a certain amount of pages each night. Starting fro A and working to the Z’s. There were some nights that I was compelled to read more than the designated pages and did just that long into the wee hours of night.

There were definitions that actually cleared up a few things on my part always wondering if there was in fact a proper name for it but never really looked. Take for example the Facilitated Apparition. This is defined as a vision of a person in the spiritual world seen psychically through items such as mirrors, cauldrons, water, ink or fire. Now, those that have used these methods in workings may or may not have known that is the technical term for seeing such apparitions.

There are many, many others that I had in fact heard of but just did not know what the correct term was. Now I do!

This was a thought provoking reference guide I must tell you as when you find the terms that have happened to you it is explained in simple, easy to understand writings. Nothing that is over your head and confusing.

If you are looking for a reference book on the unseen this is a MUST have for your library!

More Information:

Didyou know that singer Tony Bennett had a near death experience, and thatMary Pickford, America’s sweetheart, regularly consulted a psychic?Have you ever experienced bilocation or wondered about the differencebetween clairvoyance, clairscentience, and clairaudience?

The Encyclopedia of the Unseen World delves into the world of theunseen and the unknown offering us an extensive A-Z explanation andexploration of the realm of ghosts, psychics, the afterlife, and more. From Sylvia Browne to visitations, gnomes and fairies to the devil andGod, The Encyclopedia of the Unseen World offers a trip into thefascinating realm of the world beyond the known. Learn about prophets, mystics, and mediums past and present, key terms of the world beyond theveil, and the practices and divinatory arts that have been used forcenturies to tap into that world.

From the book:
Bilocation
The appearance of the astral body in several places at once. Thisphenomenon has been reported for centuries. There have been reports fromfamilies and friends who were close to a deceased loved one thatreceived simultaneous visits from that loved one on opposite sides oftown or opposite sides of the world, with both visits being completelyreal and completely unique. In addition, bilocation can also occur when aperson is astral traveling or having an out-of-body experience.

Although I am not particularly fond of many of the self help books that are available today The Courage to Be Free was slightly different in a few respects.

The first is that the author, Guy Finley, gave useful thoughts and ideas on how to actually improve your inner thinking. There was nothing far fetched or dramatical  that one should or should not do.  Some of which were borderline common sense yet put in a way that sounded almost mystical if not spiritual to say the least.

One chapter that I found interesting was chapter 9; Never feel sorry for yourself. There is a list and one example stood out to me that I would like to share. That statement was:

#5. Feeling sorry for those that want you to feel sorry for them is like giving an alcoholic a gift certificate to a liquor store.

How true is that? I have recommended this book to a few of my associates that are dealing with life’s little bumps in the road that they are traveling on.

Although this is a small book it is large in information that seems by the way the author wrote comes from the heart. As you read, from page to page until the end you can feel the sincerity that pours from his words written.

This is a good starting book for those that are seeking to change some aspect of their lives on a low key way. I can see that those that purchase the book would read this over and over for inspiration during times that are rougher than usual.

As a self help book I would recommend which I know is a rarity from me to read that I would do so! That is about as surprising as if seeing colon cleanse reviews by me. Usually not going to happen!

Out on shelves as of August 1st so look for your copy soon!

Wewere not born with the persistent negative, self-doubting,self-limiting thoughts and feelings most of us carry around. Thoselimitations are not part of our “original equipment.” In the words ofbestselling author and beloved teacher Guy Finley, “When you realize noelse on this earth can be like you… that no other soul may know thebeauty, sorrow, light and darkness you alone are given to see, then youwill no longer want to be like anyone else on this earth. You will, atlast, be the fearless individual your heart of hearts has called you tobe.”

There is a world of wisdom in this small gem of a book. Guy Finley is amaster at opening our eyes, ears, and hearts to the plain and simpletruths of this life. We are not our sense of inadequacy, ourcompulsions, our defeated thoughts and feelings. We can choose thefearless path because we were, in fact, born fearless.

Guy Finley is the best-selling author of The Secret of Letting Go, The Essential Laws of Fearless Living, and 35 other works that have sold over a million copies in 18 languages worldwide. His work has been featured on hundreds of radio and TV networks including NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, NPR, and PBS. Guy has spent the last 30 years showing individuals the authentic path to a higher life filled with happiness, success, and true love. I am a pretty hard sell on new divination kits that come out. I have been sent a few new ones on the market to review only to roll my eyes and laugh hysterically at what they were. We won’t even talk about the outcome of some of these handy dandy kits.

When this kit came and I opened the envelope I did just that. I laughed and rolled my eyes. All I could think of was rolling a bunch of rocks onto a board. OK, first I picked apart the concept of crystals compared to polished rocks. I came up with all kinds of new titles but non of which I can print here.

The kit, once I actually looked at it was pretty nicely put together and easy to set up. It comes with 3 boards, 12 crystals (polished rocks) and a book. Oh, and a pouch that is large enough to place your hand in very comfortably. Not like a few others I have had in the past.

Now, the test. I read the book first as you really should do otherwise you will have a hard time figuring out what the heck you are doing with the boards. I am a strong believer that in order to get good results you must try to bond with the items. The book does have instructions on how to cleanse, use and bond which is good as a lot of people do not know this and just delve right into the deep end only to have to call a life guard to save them.

I tried the first board that is called ‘The Life Wheel’. Results were OK but I still feel that I did not use it enough to really get anything that was coherent enough for me to say WOW that was great. Following how to do the interpretations which are clear and concise it was just OK to me.

Board 2: The Insight Wheel: Now, this one I must have bonded with a little more than the last one as the results were a lot better and I felt more confident in the results being maybe true to life. I have used this one a time or three still getting used to it and the crystals.

Board 3: The Healing Wheel: This board was very interesting and I am planning on working with it more. The results were nearly 100% which is pretty good. Especially considering my energy behind this was not fully positive.

Now, I am a creature of habit. I love what I use and rarely find something that I want to do all the time. This is something that  I will utilize at least once a month to see the full spectrum of what it can in fact do. Just like having a hydroponic systems
you have to practice, practice and yes practice some more!
The book is nicely put together and easy to read. The authors did not leave anything out so you are not sitting there reading, scratching your head wondering what they are talking about or where to go next.

If you are new and looking for something to try this would be the kit to purchase. I like the idea that it all fits in a flat like box which makes it easy to store when not in use.

For those of you that are not new to the game this is something that might compliment what you are looking to find out. All and all it is a nice set to own.

I was a little unsure about this book at first. Sometimes books that are written about prophecies are more doom and gloom than anything else. But this was not true with this book.

The section relating to the Mayans was eye opening and thought provoking to say the least. Although not my favorite chapter.

My favorite section was that of the Sixth Dimension: Sacred Geometry & Platonia. It seemed that I was so engrossed in this chapter I lost some time in it. There is an opening meditation that I have been working with now since reading this chapter that I feel has been working very well. I use this along with my other tried and true mediation hours to compliment what I already use. I am very happy with the results.

I will say though that this is not what I would call light reading at all and you might have to be in the mood to read this. The book from page to page is filled with information past to present that at times boggles the brain. I found some chapters were very easily understood while others I went back to re-read and found even more information that I missed.

I would deem this an academic style book actually but well worth the purchase and time in reading. I would also have to say that this is the type of book you can read twice and catch things that you in fact missed. I read bits and pieces once a week and it is all new each time!

The author put their blood, sweat and tears in this and it shows by the research that is jam packed in the book. It is not like just slathering information about like you would prototype 37c and make a jumbled mess. No, this is a well thought out book meant to allow the reader to think as they read.

I have also read the Mayan Code and it was equally as good. Another must have in your library.

Purchase the book? I would say you would be foolish not to!

NEWS RELEASE

This is a revised andexpanded edition of Barbara and Gerry Clow s classic 2004 text. Thissequel to the bestselling underground classic The Pleiadian Agendaoutlines their theory of the nine dimensions of human consciousness andhow those nine dimensions have become essential to our evolutionarysurvival.

Incorporating the research and insight of the Swedish biologist CarlCalleman, the Clows demonstrate how recent scientific discoveriesvalidate their theories. The existence of the nine dimensions of humanconsciousness can be proved by science.

The most controversial aspect of this book is their exploration of theMayan prophecies. Counter to much of the prevailing opinion, thefulfillment of the prophecies will not result in the Apocalypse, butwill usher in a new and expanded era of human consciousness.

They also assert that the beginning of this new era begins not onDecember 21, 2012 but on October 28, 2011 making the time of the greatshift in consciousness just around the corner.
Provocative and informative, the Clows have provided an explanation androadmap for the future. It will be embraced by all who are interested inthe evolution of human consciousness.

Barbara Hand Clow is a writer and lecturer and the author of many books including the best-selling The Mayan Code.

For those of you that want to have a more thought provoking book to read this is the book to get! From the first page to the last I was drawn deeper and deeper into the topics of this book. I shook my head in agreement on a few of the topics, such as the section about Mary Magdalen to shivering over the possible 2012 events.

I must admit that the way in which the author described the events of 2012 was a little on the strange side yet I was enthralled at the way he perceived what may or may not happen. That section of the book was in my opinion the best. A little frightening but if it did happen in this manner I will certainly remember what was written and know how to react and what is going on

The writing style was interesting. I could not figure out if it was an easy flow or a technical flow. Nonetheless it was easy to read just like the site www.carinsurancelist.com !

I would suggest reading this book twice. I did this and found interesting information that I did not pay attention to the first time. I wonder what I would find a third time?

This book is not for everyone I will add. I had six others read the book besides myself. Four of the total seven did not like the book stating that they felt it was a little to contrived for their tastes. Although they did admit that they were glad to have had the chance to read the book.

Personally I would recommend the book for the interesting information. I am still pondering the 2012 scenario!

For those of you that have children that say they see spirits this is the book for you! As one of those parents that have children that see or have seen spirits this book re-affirmed that the things that I have always done was more or less the right thing to do.

Along with insights and detailed information there are case histories as well that fit nearly all situations that you may run into with these special children that are a little more sensitive than others to the spirit world.

The advice that is given is practical and written in such a way that is easy to understand by nearly everyone. There were times while I was reading this book I felt the author was there in the room actually addressing a few of my past concerns on certain situations. The writing style is what I enjoyed the most. Down to earth and as if the author sympathized with not only the parent but the children as well.

Since I have spent my children’s life time explaining what they are seeing, why they are seeing and what to do about it this book was a wonderful companion to learn that I was correct in what I had and still do as my 10 year old actively sees and speaks to spirits.

My favorite part of the book was stating that children can tell the spirits to leave them alone and how this should be done. It backed up precisely what I have done and what I have told countless of others on this subject.

Instead of looking for cheap insurance go online or in a book store soon to pick up your copy of this book. You will not be disappointed by your purchase.

I highly recommend this book for those parents that need advice on this subject. By far one of the best books on the subject I have personally read in years.

The Art and Practice of Geomancy

Those of us that are in the Occult world are always on the look out for a new way to do divinations. Or not really new but new to us. Learning is a key point on all our paths.

This book, The Art and Practice of Geomancy, was new to me yet old in practice. Describing the historical background of how and when this practice was derived. The history was fascinating and well written. Until it came to the instructional part. Totally loosing me and others that I had read and attempt to try this method.

I read this book three (3) times from cover to cover and still could not understand the methods that were used. A lot of dot, dot and yes more dots to be used and none of which made any sense to me at all. Now, I have followed other methods that were a lot more detailed and confusing but I would finally be able to slowly do the method. This one, even to this date, I can not.

I am not alone in this pool of confusion of the methods used. It was confusing to those that read this book. I had ten (10) people from varying backgrounds and magical practices read and try this out. Out of the ten that did so only 1 thought they knew what they were doing yet felt uncomfortable doing so and gave up with hands in the air.

The book overall is OK. There were parts that I did not like. Such as when reading one chapter the thought was interrupted by launching into another totally different subject matter and by the time the writer went back to the original thought I had to myself go back and start reading all over again, skipping the intruding section just to try to grasp the entire concept of what was trying to be said.

This is not a book for everyone. It was a laborious read and to be brutally honest dry and boring. Subject matter seemed to jump here and there yet not being clear cut on the procedures to be used. This is just my personal opinion after 6 months or so of trying to read, read again and read yet one more time. I was glad that others felt the same way as the book left me feeling a little on the stupid side of ‘not getting it’.
Would I recommend this book? Only to those that wished to have a goal at deciphering this technique. And if they do please contact me with the kindergarten instructions I would appreciate that very much!

Have you ever lost an important object? Are you taking on a new job? Looking for buried treasure?

The Art and Practice of Geomancy teaches readers how to divine
the answers to life’s everyday questions about health, luck, new jobs,
and love, as well as those less mundane tasks such as finding buried
treasure, predicting the weather, being released from prison, and
identifying secret enemies. Greer delivers to readers an ancient system
of divination in an easy-to-use form requiring little more than a pen
and a piece of paper. Using a system of counting odd and even numbers
– from a deck of cards, a roll of the dice, or even by hitting sand or
dirt with a stick to generate patterns – readers learn how to cast
their own geomantic chart. And for those who wish to delve further, he
offers exercises for geomantic meditation and ritual magic. The Art and Practice of Geomancy
will appeal to pagans, followers of the Western Mystery tradition,
scholars of folk magic and divination, and anyone who wants to take
their past, present, and future into their own hands.

From the book:
Each geomantic chart is, in a certain sense, a snapshot of one set of
possibilities arising from the dance of the four elements in the anima
mundi and a sense of the dance itself – even if that sense is
imperfect, as it may be, and wordless, as it must be – provides the
context for every geomantic reading.

* A complete guide to Geomancy. Includes the history, how-to, and divinatory practices.

ISBN: 9780892541454
Book (Hardcover)
Ibis Press
$40.00

This book may not be for everyone. For those of you that have an avid interest in the area of Thematic practice and theory, you might wish to purchase a copy. This is not about Crowley so if that is what you are seeking pass on by.

Yet the information that is contained throughout the book catches the readers attention nearly from page one until the last page. Written for those that are seeking a higher grasp of knowledge on the subject matter of Thelma it is a little dry in its presentation.

Definitely a book that demands the reader to pay attention and focus on what is being written. In my opinion reading much like a school text in college. Which is not a bad thing mind you but this is not ‘light reading’ by no means.

The writer explains in a very intense and vivid manner the theories followed with illustrations and charts. If you are looking for advanced spell crafting and rituals this book will not help you. It contains no ritualistic workings which in a way for this reader was a relief. As to often the writer feels the need to throw in a few workings to back up their points. There were none in this only facts. I was appreciative of that.

For those that are interested in a more factual approach this would be the book to purchase.

Alright guys and dolls this is a MUST have book! It contains a lot of information that is not only useful but fun and interesting as well.

Personally, I have seen this type of book on the shelves in stores, glanced through them and well put them back. Not reading one cover to cover as I considered it more for entertaining the mind and not all that useful. Boy howdy was this reader wrong!

I was pleasantly surprised at how it was written. Flowing from information that was interesting and useful, especially for my personal sign to the fun and interesting facts that are through out the books pages.

Easy to read and understand for any reader at any level. Particularly the year ahead view for each and every sign. Very interesting with a few little tidbits in it here and there.

This is a book that you could actually take with you if you had a vacation booked and be entertained while on the flight there!

The facts and trivia that is within the book was great. Some I had not ever read about before. My favorite was about the dog. Such a touching story that you will want to pick this book up to read about him!

Here is the official release on the book:

This new edition of the venerable publication The Witches’ Almanacpays tribute to the animal kingdom—some home companions, some wildones, some creatures of fantasy. The book features a throng of animals, great and small, in stories such as:

* The buzz from beekeepers celebrates honey
* White alligators haunt Florida swamps
* A dog becomes a Japanese icon
* The Irish kidnap a wild goat for the Puck Fair
* Flea, Frog, and Grasshopper have a jumping contest

This year’s Almanac also includes:
* The Man in Black, the Devil’s own?
* Mayan calendar prophecy
* A Minnesota mom who comforts her son with Norse gods
* Garlic recipes to ward off blandness
* Horoscopes, moon cycles, and monthly weather forecasts

Insightful, entertaining, and filled with stunning graphics, this is the almanac on which thousands of readers rely every year.

Earth Day An Alphabet Book

Title of Book: Earth Day; An Alphabet Book
Author: Gary Kowalski
Illustrations: Rocco Baviera
Pages: 32
Ages: 2 and up
ISBN : 9781558965423
Cost: $12.00
Site: UUA Bookstore

In all honesty when I first opened this package up I was a little stunned. First I thought that I did not order anything and then I read the enclosed ‘promo’ written with a business card placed inside. A Ha! A review to be done. OK, a little different than the magnitudes of books that we receive but OK let’s see how we do!

First it has been over 7 years since I read a book such as this, but from a parents perspective I was impressed. The pages were clear, concise and cute! Making the child inside come out and smile seeing the different animals and plants captured in such a whimsical manner. Letting the child go ahead and enjoy what struck the adult was the way in which it was written. Not just animals but plants and insects as well. Utilizing how wonderful our Mother Earth is what we have that has been given as a gift to relish at the beauty. Yes, that was the adult speaking, the child proclaimed ‘Look at the hippo!’.

The book is bright enough to capture the young toddlers attention to sit and point and try to repeat. Now, the reason I am saying ‘try’ to repeat as there were words that I had a hard time saying that a small child of 2-5 would not be able to repeat very clearly. Such as ‘nasturtiums’, wow! I will say that it would build a childs vocabulary but parents read the book first to make sure that you know what this is because if your child is anything like mine were they WILL ask the meaning. Do your homework!

I enjoyed the book but there really was one last test. To see how a small child would react to the pictures. Bypassing the words, as we all know toddlers and younger react more visually at times. With book in hand I sat my 11 month old grandson down to flip through the pages. Now, there is a critic! He cooed, yelled and laughed at the pictures. Some he looked a little longer at and surprisingly they were the darker colored ones rather than the brighter pages. All and all it seemed to be a hit!

The inside note was filled with warmth and I thought it to be a good touch to the beginning of the book. Simply stated:

‘We give thanks for the earth and its creatures, and are grateful from A to Z’

As a parent I would recommend adding this book to your child’s library. Reading it more than once showing and sharing the appreciation for our gifts that are here to see.

Best Tarot Practices

Best Tarot Practices
Author: Marcia Masino
Pages: 320
ISBN#: 9781578634323
Publisher: Weiser Books
Purchase: $19.95

Owning a number of reference books it is a rarity that a book passes my desk that I actually say everyone should own a copy. Being one of those ’seen one, seen them all’ types it is hard to impress. This book though did just that.

First and foremost this book is actually written for the layman and not in some jibberish babble that makes a card reading translation harder to understand than it should be. We all know that we have had a card reading or ten that just did not make sense or was not clear, but when we rely upon help in the interpretations we have to interpret those as well. Not so with this book. Easy to read and understand which I find refreshing to say the least. I have only come upon one other book that compares with this one so I am impressed.

The premise of this book is to enable the user to become advanced in the way they do their readings. Showing, with diagrams, the various patterns that may be used. Yes, I know that is common place with this type of book, yet it goes further than this. At the end of the various chapters there are questions that you the card reader should utilize to enhance your Tarot experience. Taking you on a much further exploration than you would have thought by an author.

The questions are put forth in a manner for the seeker of knowledge to actually seek within for the answers. A novel approach. A full tutorial which for the beginner is exceptional and I have actually told those just starting to pick a copy up.

Pictures are in black and white but are clear and crisp with the tarot cards details. Exercises that are in the book should not just be completed by the beginner but even by those advanced as well. I completed a couple of them and the self exploration along with the deck was wonderful.

If you are looking for a truly good reference book the Best Tarot Practices is the book to buy.

Red Wheel Weiser

This is a book that you just can not put down. If you are a follower or fan of Crowely this is definitely one of the better books that has been written. Now, I have an entire library of Crowley and writings of others denoting facts and trivia about this man yet this is one that has been written in a no nonsense manner.

From the introduction, written by James Wasserman, you are drawn into the world of Crowley. I read this book within less than an hour, not realizing that it had been so little of time spent reading. There were of course, repeats of knowledge but the unique writing style made no difference to me as it seemed new to know.

What I did appreciate was the fact as was pointed out, that many have neglected to point out, the pronunciation of his name. It is Crowley, pronounced the with the same sound as holy. Not many know this and will look at you like you are insane.

The other point is the spelling of magic. Not magick. And he considered those in the occult as magicians. Thank you for that. Hopefully others will follow suit and use this knowledge.

The writing is in a clear cut style. No fluff, no bluff. Although the book is short on pages it is long in information. You will also find useful mystical techniques that one that is practicing higher magic can easily, if they have not already started, put into their every day ritualistic procedures. Intriguing ways to take another look at the way we may utilize our magical lives and energy.

Since I am an avid collector of works of Crowley I personally advise those that are like me to purchase this book. For those that wish to know more about Crowley this is a good starting point.

I rate this very high on your must have for your library.

The Wicca Handbook Review

wiccahandbook

The Wicca Handbook
Author: Eileen Holland
ISBN: 978-1-57863-438-5
Pub. Date: October 2008
Price: $16.95
Soft Cover
320 Pages
URL: Wicca Handbook

There are so many books written for the Wiccan to read. Have you been searching for a book that has the information on the topics that you are interested in? Especially if you are new to the path, you need, or rather want to gain as much information on the basics. Such as tools, elements, invocations and much more. Yet a lot of books leave you hanging to dry only giving you short descriptions of what you need to start out with.

Not so with the Wicca Handbook. This has chapter after chapter of resource material that you need. Answers to your questions on Witchcraft or Wicca so it covers that basics for you.

Often time these individuals that are in dire need of answers can not find them. Many are solitaires and have no one to rely upon for answers. Opening this book, flipping the pages they will find their answers.

Ms. Holland has written this book in clear and concise guide for all to read. Making the writing personal not impersonal as many I have read. She has written in such a manner that it makes you feel as though she is talking directly to you, nearly in the same room. Which I found refreshing.

Starting with a sincere forward by Raymond Buckland, the book allows the reader to travel into the world of the Wiccan finding the ways easily explained.

Chapter by chapter I found it a wealth of information not only for the novice but a refresher for the saged practioner as well. Truthfully, I found a few chapters that I had forgotten about and it was nice to have my memory jogged once again.

I particularly enjoyed the chapter on Blue Justice. Along with the tell all personal side the working that was presented was one in which I have not ever seen.

I urge readers to add this to their book collections. As this is surely a handbook that from page to page will be well used.

And yes there are spells inside for those that find this important!

From one reader to the next I recommend this book to all. I wil be placing this on my student book list as well.

The Witches of Dixie: Book Review

Book Title: The Witches of Dixie
Book 1 of The Witchery Series

Author: Laura Stamps
ISBN #: 9780979841309
Cost: $12.95
Site: To Buy Book
Rating: 10

Upon receiving this book to read I must admit I had my worries. I am not one to be very interested in this type of material. Yet, I am an avid follower of Ms Stamps so I was more than happy to sit and read with an open mind.

I picked up the book, settled in for a read and three hours later I was finished. I had lost all track of time and was totally captivated by the characters and the plot of the book. Shaking my head in disbelief I had to laugh. The characters were alive, feeling as if they were actually a part of my inner circle. Feeling that their lives at times were parallel to mine in certain ways. The ups and downs and the way in which their passion for their deities in aiding them on their path of life.

Showing the reader with a deep devotion and perseverance, any obstacle in our lives may be over come. Each character, so very different yet alike carries the reader through a tip in their lives. Feeling as though you are walking side by side with them. Feeling their sadness, laughter and passion for what they believe in.

This is not just another fictional book. This is a book that actually makes you think and feel. Each character may resemble something of the person that is reading this book. My favorite character of the Witches of Dixie is Mirabella. Although I thoroughly enjoyed each other character of Ravena, Maylene and Savannah, Mirabella was one I could identify with the most.

Laura Stamps has created a refreshing series. With her way of mixing the real life situations with the magickal workings it shows clearly her devotion to her path, characters and readers.

The only bad part that I can tell you is that the book ended. Leaving the reader wanting more!

Eragon - The Original Book

Eragon - the OriginalBook
Authored By: Christopher Paolini
Reviewed By: Ouroboros Astorious

Lost by an Elf -
Found by a Rider -
Sought by a Deranged Despot.
It is blue and outwardly resembles a mountain stone.
It is brought home, marveled at, and set aside as a curious novelty.
Set aside till it begins to hatch.
For the young lad Eragon this is no simple, pretty blue stone.
This is a Dragon’s Egg.
This is Saphira.

She is tiny - as once We all were.
She learns, grows and develops.
So too does Eragon.
Concealed in the nearby woods Saphira quickly grows and develops
into a flying, telepathic Blue Dragon.
It is none too soon.
For the Agents of the Despot are coming closer - closing in….

One Boy -
One Dragon -
A World of Adventure.

As written by Christopher Paolini “Eragon” is 497 pages and is the
first in the “Inheritance” trilogy. Published by Alfred A. Knopf
the book was originally published by Paolini International, L.L.C.
in 2002. After a grueling series of 130 ‘homemade’ ‘book tours’ in 2002
in the Northwest, magic {and a new editor} arrived in the form of Michele Frey
from Knopf. Christopher met Michele at Island Books bookstore on Seattle’s
Mercer Island. Christopher’s mother - Talitha - had received an email
from Knopf saying that Frey wished buy the Trilogy for the Knopf Imprint
of Random House’s Children’s Books. This raised a question - how did Michele Frey
even know of “Eragon” and the “Inheritance Trilogy"? Carl Hiaasen had been in the
Northwest with his family on a fly fishing vacation when his stepson Ryan picked up the book and loved it.
He then read it and liked it so much He called his editor at Knopf who passed the book on to Frey.

This is written, published and sold as fiction.
Human fiction.
Since Blue Dragons, young boys who ride them, ‘magic’ and great cities
under giant mountains do not really readily exist in what You Human’s
are so insistent to call the ‘real world’ - what else can this be but ‘fiction’?
Fiction written by a teen-aged Human Scribe.
For that reason alone this book is a magnificent and most amazing find.
As a story young Paolini has conceived a multi-segment adventure that is most readable.
The characters are well developed and defined.
The included map, pronunciation and ancient language guides greatly enhance
the reader’s ability to visualize and understand the countryside realm in which
this adventure transpires.

As the Staff Dragon for MysticWtich.com I rather enjoyed this book.
You Human’s have always been good at telling stories.
I can easily recommend this book - and not just for young readers.
Go Forth - Read - and Enjoy.

As I read yet another book.
I have selected some few books from this Lair’s extensive Cache to
share with You. It’s winter and cold. What else is there to do?
I will read some books and write some reviews.
So what is the next book on the list?
A Dragon’s work is never done….

Behave Yourselves!
Ascend! - Transcend! - Transform!

Book of Ganesha

Book of Ganesha
Royina Grewal // Illus. Arwinder Chawla
Viking Penguin India
© 2001
ISBN: 0-67-004908-5
www.Penguinbooksindia.com
146 pages

Fascinating book.
Much I understand - So very much I do not.
‘Deva’s & Sura’s & Bodhisattvas & Ganapatya’s.
Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu, Parvatti, Agni and other deities -
proto, semi, hemi and demi.
Total confusion in some respects.
Yet - in some respects clarity and and simple, basic understanding.
The Tales and Myths often overlap and frequently conflict.
It’s like a socio-cultural House of Infinite Mirrors. Aspects of Aspects
Anywhere and Everywhere. Name Changes. Different Origins.
Different parents - and in one particular myth Ganesha is the
Father/Parent of All and Everything that Follows.
Confusions and Complications included - this is a most illuminating
and enlightening work.

Much of the difficulty with the book is that it was not written for a western reader.
This book was written for a reader in the Indian SubContinent. I do not know these terms.
Deva? Sura? Ganapatya’s? I have no idea what these are. A reader in Delhi would.
I was for that reader that this book was written.

Yet - for all of that - I was meant to have, hold and read this book.
I am fighting a seriously lingering head/chest cold as I I hand-scribble these words.
These words may not be typed/keyboarded till January.
I was at Barnes & Noble.
Yes.
I was at Barnes & Noble - again.
I was there for another - far different - book.
They are currently out-of-stock on that other book.
So I thanked the lovely lady at Customer Service and walked on.
I was not even fully aware of where I was headed to in the store.
I found Myself at ‘Eastern Religions’.
I stood there scanning the shelves.
There then was this single, small, thin book.
It was as though it was the only book there.
A very clear case of being guided directly to the book I was to read today.
So I bought it.
brought it home,
and between coughing fits,
read it.
Read all of it.
It’s only 146 pages.

I have only a couple of questions:

-) Lord Ganehsa - why this book - now?

-) What am I to get from this?

-) It’s an excellent ‘primer’ on Ganesha. I however, work with Dragons.
Do Dragons and Lord Ganesha go/work together?

-) Am I even asking the right questions?

-) Are there even any ‘right’ questions?

Lord Ganesha - I am beyond confused.
I have to admit I did what I was guided and directed to do.
I simply do not understand the ‘why’ of it.
I ask for no ‘boon’ other than comprehension and understanding.
OR - if that is not to be part of ‘the plan’ - perhaps another bit of guidance
and direction?

Lord Ganesha is the Patron Deity of Writers and Students.
I am Paganus Greybeard.
For the Mystress - I am both Writer, Student and Administrator.
Lord Ganesha helps Writers and Students.
That much - so far - I do understand.

This is an excellent book on Ganesha.
It may not be all that easily found - even at Barnes & Noble.
My finding it was a bit magickal and serendipitous.
There is - however - the online URL for Penguin Books India.
You might be able to access and find the book that way.

Now if I could just get rid of this cold so I can think clearly.
I might re-read “Ganehsa” and find that bit of guidance and direction.
It seems the most logical place to start.

Ms. Simms, has used easy to understand information that the readers is able to utilize nearly immediately. Can be understood by the novice to the advanced which is unique in using a charting system. Each chapter entails basic information on the how, why and what of the moon phases. Slanting for those that are following the Wiccan path there are rituals that may be put in force for those that wish to utilize rituals along with the moon, solar phases. The rituals are new and slightly unique.

Using the software is smooth and easy. No fancy download hoops to jump through. Simply insert, follow directions and within two minutes (Yes, I timed it) you are on the road to charting your Moon information.
Although I was disappointed that it was lacking a few resources that may have enhanced the software, I was intrigued by the information given. Running the program then looking up the signs giving the reader full and concise information. Once the reader has gone over the information a new look may be given to their present life and changes that may be worked on.

The descriptions give each house along with the placement of the moons phase. There is little doubt as to finding the information you need as it is sectioned by the phases. Taking you through not only the moon phases but the solar as well. Particular interest again was the solar and moon eclipses with the details given.

I especially enjoyed the prenatal information based on the time and moon phases. Giving new insight and thought to before being born. I was impressed with this part as with other programs it is usually not mentioned.

The colored palettes in the book of the art work was a wonderful addition to to the book. These are the art work of Ms. Simms and Molly A. Sullivan, such named as “The Images of the Goddess” and Moon themes. My favorite was the “Disseminating Moon". After seeing the palettes, I must tell you that I surfed over to the site to take a more intense look at the work offered.

Would I recommend this book? For those that wish a new look into their lives by using the moon and phases, I would say yes. The material is light, informational and easy to follow.
Readers will have hours of pleasure and fun preparing their charts due to the refreshing presentation of material.

The Ultimate Book of Shadows For The New Generation Solitary Witch

Author/Title: Silver RavenWolf-The Ultimate Book of Shadows For The New Generation Solitary Witch
Publisher: Llewellyn
Pub. Date: 2003
Rating: 10
Book Description: New Age/Wicca/Magick Studies
Url: Silver RavenWolf Website

For a title so befitting for Silver Ravenwolf’s current release The Ultimate Book of Shadows For the New Generation Solitary Witch this title pretty much sums it up. Consisting of almost 600 pages of personal information as well as historical accounts of witchcraft on a one to one level she draws the reader into a world where modern day witchcraft can be easy utilized without the typical mumbo jumbo of most books out there on the market. Aiming more to the modern day practitioner of the craft she illustrates liveliness to her writing that makes all her books particularly this one easy to use and conduct accordingly. What can be said about her current material even though it is a Book of Shadows, unlike others out there she gravitates towards all stages of spiritual paths. From the entry level student to the advanced individual already past the witch rookie stage might find this book a vast wealth of information into the heart of witchcraft. One of the things that makes Ms. Ravenwolf a sought after witch in her field of writing is her ability to convey and assimilate details of witchcraft in a easy flow format.

Ravenwolf’s understanding towards the modern day witch can almost be heartfelt in many ways for it is my understanding that she gives back to new fellow witches of what she was bestowed herself with her own personal walk with the God/dess. Through her pervious books she expresses interest to the modern day learners following a relaxed way of the pathway to the Divine. One can almost say that there is a new reform of witchcraft that is taking hold to the newbes into this old religion. One can find many important aspects with her literary read for which in my terms is a well-published guide of the old and the new ways of the craft with zestful appeal. The book not only covers the traditional steps of the typical witchcraft basics but tons to any reader that will find this book so unlike many others. One of the stronger points of this book is the brief history of witchcraft for it covers massive amounts of deep knowledge into a faith that can be both a blessing and a curse. Powerful key interests that this book displays is in the astrological energy spells, classical planetary invocations and the heptagram and the magickal days. More can be said about this book but feel that it is up to the individual to cast there own opinioned spell. A complete book for all and every witch new and old!

From the middle section of the book and then thereon there are exercises that give into more of the pendulums potential into other fields of interest. One might explore further aspects of certain past lives issues in details with the past life date charts, location period chart to social background and occupation charts.

One aspect that I find a well informative bonus to this book is that it gives also astrological perspectives to the charts that are in conclusive and in-depth with further progression with pendulum magick. What D.J. Conway does not really get into it is the pendulum can be used in spell workings but explains that pendulums have other various uses than what one give them credit for. An easy to read guide more or less this book is a must have for it not only provides additional interests to those learning the uses of the pendulum but can find it a resourceful use for any level of practice. So, now let’s take out our pendulums and put them to work!

Rating: 9
Book Description: Wicca/Witchcraft
Url: Edian McCoy

Welcome into the beginners realm into the craft with Edian McCoy’s latest book release entitled If you want to be a WITCH (a practical introduction of the craft). Inner searching to why witchcraft is a religion asides being more of a spiritual study, McCoy give the beginner pupil a refreshing way to the craft even for fellow Witches getting a brush up with their witchy studies. Having a convenient and practical way of conveying what needs to be said in plain witch language instead of worded fluff as some can say witchcrap she gives it straight from one witch to another! Through her latest book she gives a summary of historic accounts to the craft that makes her current literary effort an interesting read.

Touching bases to the craft, ethnic cultures within Wicca and are you a good witch or a bad witch persona she covers the basic essentials of this spiritual undertaking. One thing she makes mention on how important the work that is involved that goes into this religious exploration gives the reader that the craft is something not to be taken lightly. Questioning the reader if this is a path that one wants to embark on; she gives examples that are covered questioning the readers spiritual interests towards the end of the book. Part of this book covers a 100 self questions for newcomers to witchcraft that is more of a study guide intro to the pathway of this spiritual wisdom. If you want to be a Witch is more fashioned for coven based individuals but strikes the appeal to solitaries as well. Well formatted writing and insightful this is a must have for anyone seeking to explore witchcraft.

A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner

A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner

“Wicca - A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner”
© 1988
Llewellyn Publications
A Division of Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd.
ISBN: 0-87542-118-0
www.llewellyn.com

Being a Solitary Learner I have no direct, one-on-one interaction with an instructor. What I do have are the words, thoughts and teachings of Scott Cunningham, and the other authors that I read. Very few books are specifically written for the Solitary Learner/Practitioner. Those that are often are difficult to read and understand. This is not the case with the Cunningham books. They are very easy to read and understand.

I needed a basic place to start. I was given “Wicca….” as the book to read first. Cunningham opens his book with an extensive section on Theory. He begins with Wiccan and Shamanism and then describes and explains the Deities, Magic, Tools, Ritual and preparation for Ritual, the Magic Circle and the Altar, Days of Power, and Initiation. He carefully presents all of this basic preparatory material before he deals with Exercises and Magickal Technique. In this book is also included his own Book of Shadows.

While I may still be only a Solitary Learner - and in no way - yet! of being any kind or type of Practitioner - I still need Guidance and Instruction. It is through my Readings of Cunningham and others that I receive that Instruction.

Included with the main text of this book is a very comprehensive glossary of all the terms used in the book, a very extensive suggested reading list, and a detailed index to the text. There are also two appendices covering occult suppliers and Wiccan, Pagan and Shamanisic publications. This is not only a very well written book but it is well designed and edited for ease of reading and study.

This was a superb first book for my Readings. I may be a Solitary Learner - but with my books - and my Guides & Guardians - I am never really ever alone.

Scott Cunningham passed on from this life on March 28, 1993. He had authored over 30 books, both fiction and non-fiction

The Miracle Tree: Demystifying the Qabalah

The Miracle Tree: Demystifying the Qabalah

Author/Title: R.J. Stewart-The Miracle Tree: Demystifying the Qabalah
Publisher: New Page Books

Pub. Date: 2003
Rating: 6.5
Book Description: New Age/Qabalah
Author’s Site

One thing I have to say about this book it gets to the point and to the heart of Qabalah learning. Advanced students will find this book as an additional learning tool, as where others the beginners might be turned off. Mr. Stewart tries to convey plain writing the meanings and terminology in this practice, but I fail to see where one can call this book an easy read! So far as with most books written on this subject matter R.J. does not need to explain in great deal about the background of Victorian occultism where the Qabalah is concerned.. One thing about this book is where R.J. interests the reader as to how to read the book, more or less like a novel. Where most would utilize the practices and mediations, the author wants the individual to grasp what is read, before the hands on approach. Unique and diverse his writing can be difficult to follow with, but once the chapters turn believe me, you will learn.

When reading The Miracle Tree, I did not but get much out of it. What interested me in the Qabalah was the fact of the use of the tarot and other related topics, but the one that really took me in was the fact that the use of Angels, Archangels and the Tree of Life. Some of the techniques are Withdrawal from Time, Walking Participation and entering the Inner Temple traditions. My favorite has to be the Entering Stillness exercise, something of a common use that we all can use in out daily lives. A bonus to this literary guide of self-discovery of the Tree, traces some of the European sources of the Tree of Life meditations and visions through the medieval times. Overall this book is good for individual apprentices to former or current students of the Qabalah.

Aiding in providing basic witch info in the first chapter Midia Star touches on the brief witchy makings of the craft explained in form about the Wiccan Rules, self belief, Moon influences, candles color/days and traditionally celebrated witch dates. Myths of being a Witch and utilizing the importance of a Book of Shadows Star tunes the reader in on this significance topic. From the first chapter info starting introduction in There’s a little Witch in every woman seems to be more geared into catering more toward women either witch or non-witch. This complied book touches the basic variations of spells in each chapter, some including a small note of successful spell casting. Ranging from a Money Shaker, Chase the Gremlin, Meditations utilizing Visualization and Spells, Lucky Lady Spell consisting the use of fashioning a homemade doll out of springs of rosemary.

For which in this case this book serves well due to other written books out there that have a different layout theme Star really hits the questions with quick answers that beginners on the path seek. Since this book is condensed it serves as a quick reference to view upon. Each chapter 2-5 illustrates spells in certain areas aimed at the modern women in today’s society. More an urban writing perspective this targets. Last two chapters focus on a the importance of a witch’s garden and being your own witch, for the last topic of understanding the importance of witchcraft goes beyond who we are as women. Additional bonus is at the end of this book is a handy appendix chart of moon phases from 2005 through 2011. Excellent read for any woman!

Silver Raven Wolf-Companions in Magick

Book Review

Silver Raven Wolf-Companions in Magick
By Aislinn Unne

Author/Title: Silver Raven Wolf-Companions in Magick
Publisher: Llewellyn Publications
By: Aislinn Unne
Pub. Date: 1996
Rating: 8
Book Description: Angel Magic
Url: Silver Raven Wolf

Silver Raven Wolf’s seventh achievement release entitled Angels-Companions in Magick stands significantly important based on utilizing angelic powers in tuned with energies fused with Wiccan tradition combine an exquisite literary setting for new age spiritualists. One would not think of meshing angels and wicca concepts (be it a witch or non witch) but the counterpart gather well collectively adding a bonus with these winged beings. For one not only seeking an angel but angelic guidance in the daily life of magick using heavenly assistance.

Companions in Magick serves as a guide for those who are exploring the angelic realms or path/influence about angel contact in a new phase of divine power. From the forms of angel alter description set ups, brief history covering of angel hierarchy and tuning into these significant divinities not only captures the guardians of light in a spiritual way but a mystical sense of awareness.

Chapters are broken down into a simple format, making this book an interesting reference source to angels and the magickal correspondences they represent, angel mediation and angels and the elements. One thing I find helpful in this book is divination, zodiac, planets and spell crafting or getting rid of negative energies (or in Silver Ravenwolf’s case) combating chaos using the angels. Readers might find that using angelic forces in aiding with past life discovery seems to be a touchy topic and along with the use of angels with the Angelic Rosary seems different. Through careful explanation the two mentioned above can be used in ways that only one can experience with personal practice. Silver Ravenwolf’s understanding of angels/craft knowledge aids those who seek kindred in both magical worlds.

To Ride A Sliver Broomstick

By Staff Writer: Paganus Greybeard

To Ride A Sliver Broomstick
Author: Silver Ravenwolfe.
Available: Barnes & Noble
Llewellyn Publications
ISBN : 0-87542-791-X.
Pages: 300
Retails: $14.95 (US)
$22.95 (Canada)

It is well indexed with 3 appendices. There are four sections and 23 chapters.
As the blurb on the back of the book says -
“Take a Ride on a Silver Broomstick, and let your Magickal Adventure
begin!”

This Paganus did.

It was a very good ride.

She is a mother with children. She lives in Pennsylvania. She is the
Director of the Wiccan/Press Alliance. She has been active in varied and
various aspects of the Wiccan/Pagan Craeft since she was seventeen. In
November of 1991 she received her First Degree from Bried Foxsong of
Sacred Hart.

She is on the rolls of the International Red Garters. She also is of
Second and Third Degree status from the Temple of Hecate Triskele of the
Caledonii Tradition. She now heads the Black Forrest Clan is four states.

She was ‘Eldered’ by Lord Serphant of Serphant Stone in June of 1996.

Her hearthstone coven is the Coven of the Wolf. This is quite a
remarkable biography for a working, writing mother and wife with
children. Just who is this Lady - this Witch?

She is Silver RavenWolf - Mother of four children and Author of over 17
books. She is also a very talented artist. Many of her drawings
illustrate and illuminate the first volume of her trilogy of “New
Generation Witchcraft".

She opens her book with Valiente’s “Charge of the Goddess". For a book
written as an introductory instructional guide to the Craeft the
“Charge” is an ideal opening. The Craeft is not - despite the incessant
and discordant howlings of the numerous “Born-Again” Whatever’s and the
“Right-Wing” Whomever’s - a Dark and Negative Craeft of Death, Doom and
Desolation for the Immortal Soul. Far from it. A witch is most often a
teacher, a guide and healer. A witch does not knowingly and deliberately
deal with the “Dark Side". It is just not done. For so many reasons it
is not done…..

Silver is - for this Paganus - very easy to read and understand. She
writes as not only a Witch but also a Mother and a Wife. Her sense of
humour is also greatly appreciated. So many of the books I have looked
through - and not bought - are deeply serious tomes of ’secret sacred
knowledge revealed’. Reading Silver - along with Cunningham - you very
quickly learn that ’secret sacred knowledge’ may - or very likely may
not be - of any value save perhaps to a book publisher selling a book to
gullible readers.

After the “Charge” she has a short introduction to herself and her
background. Reading her book - in the context of the introduction -
gives the reader a much needed ‘grounding’ in the ‘real world’. As she
herself says in that introduction - “I live in the real world that has
such neat items as rent, phone bills, electricity bills, family upsets,
car problems and bank snafus. Not to mention the biggies, like war,
crime, and the sometimes uncooperative neighbors.” Knowing this - and
knowing she wants you to know this before you read the book means this
Lady has her Magick together. “

I like the book because it is in what I know to be ‘trade-paper’ size.
It’s larger than some of - if not many - of the books on the ‘New
Age’/'Occult’ shelves. It has a blue cover that is very easy to find. On
the cover is a lovely young lady witch riding her flying broom painted
by Lisa Iris. Inside the book are the illustrations by Silver.

The drawing of the young woman at her desk that graces the introduction
is quite striking. Being a ‘trade-paper’ sized book also means the size
of the print-type is larger - and for this Paganus with bifocals that is
a great help and advantage.

At the conclusion of many chapters is a summary of that chapter along
with a suggested reading list. Since her book was published by Llewllyn
an obvious thought would be that most of the books on the chapter’s
readings lists would be from Llewellyn. While many of the listed books
are from Llewellyn many are not - including Samuel Weiser, Harper and
Collins, St. Martins and the Aquarian Press.

Some of the chapters of the book include:
Picking up the Broomstick,
Magickal Jargon,
Religion Vs. Science,
Your Sacred Space,
Coming out of the Closet

Obviously this is a book for beginners to the Craft. Yet, I find as I
near the end of my First Year of Readings that this book may also be of
value to one skilled and experienced in the Craft.

The references of Pagan Newsletters and Services in the second appendix
is invaluable.

This book is dedicated to two men in Silver’s life - her father and her
husband. Marching to a different drummer is how she dedicated this book
to her father. To her husband she gave the dedication that without him
it would not have been possible. A daughter, wife, mother and published
author. When the Power Flows - the Magick Can and does Grow.
