Sharing Pagan Stories of 9/11

This is a news release written in entirety by Circle Sanctuary Rep.

This weekend marks the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.

This national tragedy impacted people of many walks of life, ethnicities, national origins, and spiritualities, including Wiccans, Druids, Heathens, and Pagans of other paths.

To aid with the healing and renewal process, and to help collect and preserve Pagan history, I have been in touch by phone and by email with some Pagan survivors of the 9/11 attacks as well as other Pagans impacted by 9/11 to learn about their experiences and perspectives.

In addition, I created a page for sharing support, resources, and Pagan Stories of 9/11 on Facebook.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pagans-Healing-Remembering-911/242330215810330

My friend, Terry Comparetta Wagner, who assisted me with the 9/11 Memorial Ritual last year on September 11 at the Earth Spirituality Festival in Pennsylvania, is working with me in administering this new Facebook Community page. She had an office in the World Trade Center and was on her way to work there when the attacks happened. I am glad she survived and is helping me with this project.

SHARE YOUR STORIES

We invite you to “like” this page & join in the Community Sharing, such as commenting on one or more of the following.

* Where were you on September 11, 2001 when you learned the news of the attacks? What did you do? How did this impact you?

* Were you involved in 9/11 rescue, recovery, clean-up, other helping efforts? Please describe.

* Do you know of Pagans killed in the 9/11 attacks or who died of injuries or diseases sustained as part of responding? Please share their stories.

* What 9/11 rituals, meditations, memorial events were you part of then and/or in the years since?

* What are you doing this year to observe the 10th anniversary of 9/11?

* What resources have you found helpful in the 9/11 healing & renewal process?

Group Healing Prayer and Magickal Working for Ed Francis

Group Healing Prayer and Magickal Working for Ed Francis at 11am Central Time, Sunday, April 3, 2011.

Please join in & encourage others to do so. Please share this email widely.

As most are aware, long time Circle Sanctuary & Pagan Spirit Gathering Community member Ed Francis suffered a major stroke on March 16. Ed and his partner Linda are now on the road to his recovery and this simultaneous group healing event is in support of his effective and rapid return to a healthy state.

This is an invitation to all who know Ed, and to others who want to help and wish him a quick and full recovery to join together in a simultaneous outpouring of Love and Healing Energy.

This invitation is going out to several thousand Pagans and others throughout the U.S. and around the world.

The event itself will provide Ed, Linda, their immediate family, friends and caregivers a powerful ongoing wave of loving support simultaneously generated by many hundreds, from which to draw from in the coming months.

The many that’ve already sent prayers and healing thoughts are also encouraged to join this group healing in the sense of re-enforcing their previous work.

The protocol is simple and straight forward:

(1) On Sunday, April 3, 2011, beginning at 11am CENTRAL daylight time (Noon Eastern Time, 10am Mountain time, 9am Pacific), those wishing to participate—raise energy via meditation, prayer, magical work, or other form of healing support, visualizing Ed in a fully healed state.

(2) At the end of the 20th minute, concentrate and project/send your healing energy to the collective Sacred Sphere already in place, in close proximity to Ed–who is located at: St. Mary’s SSM Rehabilitation Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. Know that this Sacred Sphere contains the combined love and support sent by all participants, and shall be available to Ed, Linda–and through them–family, and caregivers to draw upon as needed throughout this healing process. Once energized, this Sacred Sphere shall remain with Ed wherever he goes.

Additional Thoughts:
(1) If you need assistance in visualizing Ed and his Partner Linda, visit his healing page: www.circlesanctuary.org/healing/edfrancis/index.htm
(2) Visualize Ed fully healed.
(3) Remember to send your prayer/support to the Sacred Sphere–from which Ed and Linda and their Higher Selves may draw as needed.
(4) Schedule brief re-enforcing sending’s of energy periodically utilizing protocol step 2 above.

Thanks and Blessings to all for your generous gifts of healing love and support to Ed and Linda. See you on the Outer Planes at 11am Central time, Sunday, April 3.

OPERATION CIRCLE CARE: Yuletide Care Packages for Pagans in the Military

For the fourth year in a row, Circle Sanctuary is honoring and supporting active duty Pagan service members through Operation Circle Care.

This year, we are widening our focus and sending Yuletide care packages to active duty Pagan troops serving in any overseas theater of operation, including Germany, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, or on board Navy ships. The success of this program is due to the generous support and donations from Pagan community members from many paths and places.

With your continued support, it is our goal to honor and remember each and every Pagan US military service member we can with a special personalized gift for Yule, just as we have in years past.

Here’s How to Help:

(1) SEND CONTACTS: Send us names, postal addresses, and if known, email addresses, of deployed Pagan service members who would like to receive Yuletide packages. Pagan service members can submit their own names & contact information. Contact info received will be kept confidential for use by OCC only. Send contacts to the OCC Program Coordinators: occ@circlesanctuary.org. Be sure to include full name and rank as well as an accurate APO/FPO address for each deployed military Pagan.

(2) DONATE ITEMS: Donate gift items that are small and easy to mail such as Pagan music CDs, incense, jewelry, Pagan calendars, books, and altar cloths. For more ideas on items to donate, visit the Operation Circle Care web page at http://tiny.cc/operationcirclecare. Please send your items to us by December 1 so that they are received in time to ship out in early December. Contact OCC coordinators for shipping options & addresses: occ@circlesanctuary.org.

(3) DONATE FUNDS: Shipping costs for Operation Circle Care packages range from $10.70 to $12.50 each. Monetary donations are needed to help to cover postage costs, plus related OCC expenses, such as production of our Pagan military prayer cards that we send free of charge to Pagans on active duty and their families, both overseas and here in this country. To donate by credit card visit our secured on-line site: http://www.circlesanctuary.org/donate or call (608) 924-2216. Be sure to select “Operation Circle Care” when designating your donation. Funds are tax deductible in the USA. Or you can send a check or money order, payable to Circle Sanctuary - OCC to: Operation Circle Care, Circle Sanctuary, PO Box 9, Barneveld, WI 53507 USA.

(4) TELL OTHERS: One of the MOST important things the Pagan community can do to support Operation Circle Care is to help us get the word out about this program. Please let others know about Operation Circle Care and our call for contacts, gift items, and donations – forward this email to lists, blogs, websites, others; circulate widely the OCC website address: http://tiny.cc/operationcirclecare

Circle Cemetery

Circle Cemetery is America’s first national Pagan burial ground and green cemetery. Founded in 1995 by Selena Fox & others, it is located in southwestern Wisconsin at Circle Sanctuary Nature Preserve. It is operated by Circle Sanctuary, a shamanic Wiccan church and Pagan resources center which has been serving Pagans worldwide since 1974.

The newly expanded Circle Cemetery was dedicated as Wisconsin’s first Green cemetery in a public ceremony on Sunday afternoon, October 31, 2010. The dedication was held as part of a public open house that followed the conclusion of this year’s Samhain Festival at Circle Sanctuary land.

The Green cemetery dedication began with a sacred directions blessing rite in the tall grass prairie, which is now part of the 20 acres that makes up Circle Cemetery. The blessing was followed by the first community ceremony of cremains scattering in the new part of the cemetery.

Rev. Selena Fox, director of Circle Cemetery and senior minister of Circle Sanctuary, led the blessing. She and several close friends of Circle Sanctuary Community member Bruce Parsons scattered some of his cremains there. Also participating in the rite were some members of the Circle Sanctuary Community and several other spiritual communities and organizations in the area.

The ceremony continued with a Samhain honoring of the dead at the main altar and then at each of the gravestones and cairns in the original part of the cemetery. Then, cremains of Bruce Parsons were interred in a memorial service that included the dedication and placement of his US Department of Veterans Affairs pentacle grave marker. Bruce served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Order of the Pentacle. His marker is the 8th VA-issued pentacle marker at Circle Cemetery.

An article and photos from the dedication and memorial appeared in the November 1, 2010 issue of the Wisconsin State Journal:

We open on Wednesday with only the Opening Ritual scheduled so that people can set up their campsite and enjoy the area without trying to run to make a program/event.

Thursday through Sunday we have 3 program sites where programs can be held three times a day. All the programs are put on by attendees who desire to share their knowledge with others through love….no one is paid for their presentation, though as a partial compensation they are excluded from having to do two hours of service. We also have Childrens programing for the young folks.

Thursday night the MPC invites all to come to our Meet & Greet party. We provide a limited amount of beer, wine, soft drinks, and munchies and everyone get to meet everyone. After the introductions have gone down, you can walk the candle lit Labyrinth under the stars.
Friday night those with talent have a chance to entertain one and all at the Follies.
Saturday afternoon the MPC puts on its acclaimed FEAST!!!! Can you say roast pig stuffed with polish & sauerkraut?! (Yes we have vegetarian fare as well prepared by a vegetarian. No one goes away hungry.) After the Feast we have the Main Ritual focusing on our theme & Bonfire.
Sunday about noon we have the Closing Ritual.

All of the above including your tent space costs only $70 PreReg per adult, $20 per child 5-13 y/o. We have a Family Plan of only $160 for those with 4 or more children. Three Day Underground Arts and Culture Festival Announced

Three day underground arts and culture festival announced

(Portland, OR) June 11, 2007 -
This August, the City of Roses will play host to esoZone, a unique, three-day event billed as a “Designer Reality Expo.”

esoZone will bring together people from disparate Internet subcultures to exchange art and intellect from Fri., August 10 to Sun., August 12 at the Someday Lounge in downtown Portland, Ore. It will feature mind-altering performances, dangerous entertainment, occult art, futurist rituals and a dance floor, all to culminate with an epic meditation by cult phenomenon artist Paul Laffoley.

The event will showcase members of the experimental occultists and artists, and other highly active anti-professionals toiling away in isolation.

“We’re trying to create a bridge between the sort of intellectual aspects of these fringe cultures and the artistic aspects,” says art director Danny Chaoflux. “We want this to be a great party, as well as an event where people learn something.”

esoZone is being coordinated by people from online communities all over the world and locally supported by Portland Occulture, a loose affiliation of people with an interest in esoteric subjects.

Performers will include: syndicated television host Freeman; alternative Internet radio personalities the Viking Youth; the London theatre troupe Foolish People; and acclaimed
local performance artist the Red King.

Klint Finley, esoZone executive director and Portland Occulture organizer describes esoZone as “a natural extension of both the international Internet culture and the local network we’ve built.”

“Portland, Ore. has long had a reputation as a city for outsiders, marginals and malcontents,” says event director Nick Pell. “It seemed the natural place to hold a weekend dedicated to both high and low weirdness.”

Other organizations contributing to esoZone include the Key 64 webzine, the online community Irreality.net, and the Foolish People.

For tickets and more information, visit www.esozone.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW OCCULT FICTION FOR WOMEN

January 13, 2007 (Columbia, SC). Kittyfeather Press has published a new series of Occult novels for women, portraying contemporary Pagans and Witches realistically. Empowering. Informative. Entertaining. Unique. You’ve never read novels like these!

This new series is written by award-winning poet and novelist, Laura Stamps, whose poems and short stories have appeared in over 700 literary magazines, journals, and anthologies worldwide. Winner of the “Muses Prize Best Poet of the Year 2005″ and the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize nomination and seven Pushcart Award nominations, she is the author of more than thirty books and chapbooks of poetry and fiction. A Wiccan Witch, she has been involved in feral cat rescue for many years and currently cares for four housecats and a feral colony of nine cats.

Each novel in this series weaves an entertaining story, as well as including useful information about feral cat rescue, how to shrink uterine fibroids naturally, herbal remedies, surviving perimenopause, and more. Each chapter also contains a spell, chant, or magickal prosperity principle that works. “It is important to me, as a Witch, that there should be novels in the marketplace portraying contemporary Pagans as we really are in everyday life,” says Stamps. “That means the characters in these novels face the same problems as anyone else (marriage difficulties, divorce, financial challenges, illness, self-esteem issues, etc). But because they are Witches, they use magick to solve their problems, making these books great fun to read, whether you are Pagan or not.”

This new Occult fiction series is only available from Kittyfeather Press. Readers can order from the website (www.KittyfeatherPress.blogspot.com) or request a free book catalog from Kittyfeather Press, P.O. Box 212534-P, Columbia, SC 29221-2534. You can also email laurastamps@mindspring.com for a catalog.

The Pagan and Occult Author Resource Page

The Pagan and Occult Author Resource Page

SEATTLE, WA – November 25, 2006

After several months of updates and design changes, authors Taylor Ellwood and Lupa would like to announce the rebirth of the Pagan and Occult Author Resource Page. Located at http://www.thegreenwolf.com/poarp.html, this is an extensive collection of resources specifically aimed towards writers in the pagan and occult nonfiction genres.

In 2004, Taylor published his first solo book, Pop Culture Magick. In the process, he realized that there was no central resource available to new occult authors navigating the ins and outs of writing, editing, publishing, and promoting nonfiction texts. He collected the resources he had gathered in his own research, arranged them online, and the Occult Author Resource Page was born.

Fast forward to 2006. Taylor and his new wife, friend and fellow author Lupa, decided to revamp the OARP. They moved everything over to their joint site, weeded out the dead links, and spent weeks adding even more essays, tips and links of interest to authors. Because the information was relevant to pagan as well as occult authors, the name was changed, and the OARP became the POARP.

Since then, Taylor and Lupa have been adding to the POARP on a consistent basis. The basics of the OARP have been retained: magazines and other publications for authors to submit their articles and review copies of books to, radio shows and podcasts aimed at pagan and occult listeners, and an ever-growing list of festivals and other events. New features include essays and tips on everything from editing to promotion and publicity, calls for writers, and a variety of links to valuable online communities and other resources.

The look and location may have changed, but the focus is the same: to offer both new and experienced authors in the pagan and occult nonfiction genres the information they need to write, publish and market that book they’ve been working on. New resources and essays are accepted and appreciated. And, as always, the POARP is entirely free of charge.

To find out more about the POARP, visit http://www.thegreenwolf.com/poarp.html.
