Globus Securitas / Scutum, Pt. I
The navies of this world have known it for years. When in a situation of high risk and danger evasion and escape is often necessary. For the navies this has been known since the mid to late 1800’s when the first known navel submersible, the C.S.S. Hunley, made its combat appearance. This strategy has become known as ‘run silent, run deep’.
Even in our own personal and professional lives the same strategy applies. As your Paganus I have often had to adopt ‘deep silent running’ to evade and escape combative confrontations. There have been many days and nights when being ‘out-of-sight’ and ‘out-of-mind’ has been my sole means of conflict avoidance. This has also worked when I was working ’security’. When your supervisor is on a tear, you want to be anywhere but there. You may also need to observe and respond to a situation quietly and without notice. This tactic can be and has been utilized in dealing with non-physical etherial threats and dangers.
The navies in their use of submersibles have the cloaking and shielding aspects and benefits of the world’s global waters. The water becomes both security - ’securitas’ - and shield - ’scutum’. Long years before I was even aware of ‘magick’ and it’s myriad forms and functions I was utilizing a very basic cloaking shield. I used the phrase - “You do not see me, I am not here". I used no tools of any kind - not even my wrist beads or rings. At this early stage of growth and development I was not wearing either my wrist beads or rings. I was however - without being aware of what it really was I was using - using concentrated visualization. This is the same technique used by ‘magicians’ to achieve their objective - yet, I was not aware of this. I simply spoke the words and visualized a shielding cloak around me. I clearly remember using this ‘basic’ technique when working ’security’. I needed to not be seen and noticed - and I wasn’t.
Years later, after working with and studying under the instruction, guidance and direction of Mistress Ravenfyre and certain Festival and Guild members, I have learned what it was that I was doing without any instruction, guidance or direction. I was forming and using a ’security shield globe’. In my present and current development this has become “Globus Securitas / Scutum".

As described and explained last week in “Sic Fiat Luxe” my curent method is to
1) Touch the rings/beads
2) Visualize the shielding globe/cloak
3) Speak the words which in this useage are - “Globus Securitas / Scutum".
I was performing “magick” years before I went to Renaissance Faires & Festivals. I was doing the “Don’t see me, I am not here” even before I worked ’security’. This was years - decades? - before Mistress Ravenfyre, Festival, Guild, My Guides, Guardians and Muses and even the Draconae. This was seemingly something I did on my own. Was it? Was it really? Most likely not. I have been doing Rennaissance Fairs and Festivals since the 1980’s. I was doing Sci-Fi Conventions before that. I have only been actively aware of “magick’ for around ten (10) years. I have been associated with Mistress Ravenfyre and MysticWith.com for six (6) to eight (8) years. I have been a Guild member for five (5) to (6) years. Where then did the knowledge and ability to do the very ‘basic’ ‘magic’ I was doing come from? Were my Guides, Guardings and Muses working with me and through me even then? Was I being guided, directed and protected by then before I was even actively aware of their existence? Could it have been “my” Draconae? Could it have been then as it is now a bit of both?
In my own way ‘running silent, running deep’ is one of my best ways to avoid messy and emotionally complicated confrontations. The only real problem is that in this household - my family of birth household -
in many ways my ‘magick’ does not work. My ‘magick’ - when it does work, for the most part - works outside the household, not inside.
It does, however, to some limited degree lessen the severity of the situations. This is best seen in my daily ‘cleanings/cleansings’ - when I can remember to do them! As an experiment I have not performed the ‘cleanings/cleansings’ ‘magick’ act/function to compare the results of days when the ‘magick’ was performed and when it was not performed. The results are quite clear. While I obviously cannot use the “don’t see me, I am not here” ‘magick’ here in this current familial household, I can do a ‘cleaning/cleansing’ that does seem to work. One is a drectly active shielding cloak - the other is more of a maintenance function. You spray for bugs and vermin - I do the same for etherial vermin and bugs.
Using the “don’t see me, I am not here” in this household obviously will not work. My energy forms and patterns - mundane and metyaphysical - are well known. This will also not work at either Festival or Guild as I am far too well known there as well. At my current level of ‘magickal’ development this technique only seems to work and be effective in a situation where I am not nearly so well known - such as in a crowded store or shopping center or in a late night ’security’ work environment. However, since I am unlikely to be working ’security’ as I once did, there remains one other realm of effective useage. Previously I had been using the ‘don’t see me, I am not here’ in what could be considered mundane conditions and situations.
Now that i am somewhat more trained, skilled and experienced in the useage and utilization of ‘magick’ there is still of the realm of the etherial and metaphysical. It is perhaps here where ‘not being seen because I am not here’ might be most effective.
