April Fools Prank
One of the biggest pranks to ever take place was in 1957 by the BBC TV network. The show entitled, Panorama did a fake documentary on Spaghetti Farming. Yes, you read that correctly.
They showed a family in the village of Ticino, Switzerland that were supposed to be spaghetti tree farmers. Showing the family picking noodles off the trees and laying them down to dry. Now, just see in your minds eyes trees covered in noodles with people picking them.
The documentary went through the entire yearly harvest. Ah, the women were laboring ever so hard wit the picking and pulling of the spaghetti.
The response to this was massive. Viewers wrote and called in asking so many questions and wanting to know how they to could have spaghetti trees of their own. Wishing to start farms like this. Imagine hundreds and hundreds of viewers that actually fell for this!
You might be wondering what the response was to the viewers that wanted to become spaghetti farmers. BBC had a standard response, they told them on the growing of the trees to lay a piece of spaghetti in a tin of tomato sauce and hope it grows.
