Spiders For Healing

Little Miss Muffet
who sat on her tuffet
eating her curds and way
Along came a spider
that sat down beside her
scaring Miss Muffet away
You may not be Miss Muffet, but like myself these spiders come from nowhere, scaring you half to death. Wait before you whip out the can of Raid or squash it, you may want to save its life.
In some cultures, such as in the Tahitian culture it is considered a no-no to harm that spider. They firmly believe that the spider is one of the shadows of gods. They safely escort the spider out and no harm is done. Other cultures deem it as bad luck to kill one of our 8 legged creatures.
So this doesn’t sound reasonable to you. Especially if it is a Black Widow. Speaking of black spiders in the medieval times black spiders were thought, when carried on the person, as a protection against contagious diseases. Catching a black spider, placing it into the bag made of silk and then wearing it around your neck would ward off those bugs that made them sick.
You don’t want to wear a spider in a bag around your neck. Try this one to make yourself strong and powerful. Catch a spider, place it between two slices of buttered bread and chow down. MMMM, MMM, Good. Once you have done this awhile you are supposed to be powerful and have much strength. That bag around the neck looks a little better, now doesn’t it?
Spiders were also associated with the moon and the phases. Spider webs and the weaving are said to be related to dreams, destiny and creativity. The moon phases closely relating to these web designs were the waxing and waning moon. Moons were drawn to show the web weaving in the artwork. Making the moon and spider webs as being very close in their meanings.
We in modern day do not look to our small creatures as being anything other than pests. not many would dare eat a black spider each day for power. We call the Terminex Man to rid our dwellings of bugs and other creepy crawling things. I am sure they squashed a few spiders also, so don’t feel to bad the next time you kill one.
Before you do snuff that spider, think of this quick and surely delicious recipe for treating the Ague: Ingest live spiders rolled up in either molasses , butter or cobwebs. Once you do this the Ague is cured.
If that doesn’t work, take two spiders and call your doctor in the morning
