Psychic Gunslingers: or NAGs
You are asking yourself right about now, “What is a psychic gunslinger"? Loosely put, these are the people that have some type of ability or knowledge and have heard of someone in the Practice that has ability also and have decided to seek them out and test or challenge this person.
Does this really happen? Yes. It may not be the OK Corral but it does happen. These Psychic Gunslingers ride in on their stead (Some prefer cars, busses etc) have their mind set on seeing what the other can or can not do knowing in their heart of hearts that they are weaker than they are. With shields up they proceed to seek this person out. Riding tall in the saddle they find this unsuspecting person. An ambush has been set up (in their own minds of course) and they are ready to dual.
Now mind you the other psychic may or may not be aware that this is taking place. If they are smart they have their own shields in place and set for automatic cruise control. Sometimes those with abilities are not always focusing on what they can do. They may feel a force around them, but they go on about their business. They wait knowing that someone is coming.
The Psychic Gunslinger has found their prey. With fingers on their crystals and hands on their mojo bags, they are prepared for battle. Feigning friendship or interest in the other person, asking questions that lead to nowhere (let me remind you that by this time, the other gunslinger has already figured you out and is ready) smiling and trying not to show their hand to soon. Their way of thinking is that they are the better of the two and they are going to prove it.
The Gunslinger is circling, starting a conversation that leads to magickal abilities and knowledge. Attempting to draw the other out in the open of what they are able to do. Reading, probing the other to see if they can tell if they are up to the fight. They are acting seemingly innocent.
OK, stop the cattle round up and back up. Rein in those horses, dust of the dirt and sit by the campfire. We are not in the Old West. We are in the present with a New Age intelligence. Or are we?
Those New Age Gunslingers, or NAGs as I will call you from here on out, are ridiculous. Yes, I said ridiculous. Those that do things such as this lack intelligence or is it common sense? I have yet to decide which it is as of yet. Oh, you are very scary indeed and ever sop powerful. What do you hope to gain? If you walk into a situation where there are a few M & M ( magickal & mystical) people sauntering around, they already know what you are about. They have read you before you entered their space. They are laughing at what you are about to do and they are prepared as individuals and as a group to show you that there is no need for this behavior. Chances are this is because it is not the first time this has happened. Those individuals or groups that you walk into are not as unprepared as you think. If it is an individual, they knew you were there as soon as you entered their realm and ARE waiting and prepared for you. Trust me, you were spotted. Their scouts saw and or felt you and the smoke signals went out.
Nag’s come in all shapes, sizes and genders. Their arrogance (you read that correctly, arrogance) is their down fall. Which will do them in each and every time. They seek out those they do not know, only heard of and have decided to push for a psychic battle. They wish to prove that they are the “All mighty” Nag and the other will be another notch on their wand.
Well, my dear NAGs, be prepared for the unexpected. Not all those involved in the M & M world wish to have a battle of the dim wits. We do not wish nor have to prove what we can or can not do. Those you may be seeking who have ability or knowledge might be more comfortable with who they are and what they do than you are. Is that the problem? Or is your magickal self esteem at an all time low? Those who have found the balance with their practice have no desire nor need to live up to your petty challenges. Which the word “petty” seems to fit perfectly. They have no need to prove anything and they will teach you a lesson or two in the M & M world if they have to. Are you prepared for this? You better be.
It is beyond this writers thinking, why this behavior takes place. One wonders ( I am the one) what do these NAG’s wish to gain? There are no trophy’s to be won, there is no audience to see this battle. If you have happened into an environment with others of the practice they will know what is going on and they have the home court advantage over you. Or if there is a crowd of mundanes there, they have no idea of what is going on so you lost the “crowd appeal and applauds". There is nothing to gain. If you choose this childlike behavior you may just walk away feeling lower than a coyote crawling under a barb wired fence on its belly.
Put the Psychic bullets away and come in peace. Offer your empty hand in friendship. Call a truce with yourself. The battles of the Old West are long gone. Not all Practitioners need nor want to prove what they are able to do.
Is a challenge or battle so important to you? If it is, then by all means come on out and show yourself. If you do be sure to bring a lot of ammunition.
