Mystical Scheduling
Is being on the path in the magickal & mystical world supposed to be so much work? Why are some people determined to rule their daily lives in the training, studies and practices of magickal workings? It appears that they fill their day planners with just that. “Magick and Mystical To Do Lists”.
Planning each and every free moment they have around something that has to be magick. Why? The pursuit of being better. Better than who and what? Training themselves in abilities that they have seen or read about. They wish to also be able to do that. On the road to gain more and more knowledge, which will be stored away for later use. You never know when you may need to know how to bend a candle with the energy from the palms of your hands. It will be great at the next party to wow your friends with.
Why make it harder than it already is? Please do not get me wrong, I am all for gaining more knowledge, practicing with our skills and abilities, yet I rarely hear from those busy mystical beavers that they are going to spend time in devotion to the Gods or Goddesses of their choosing. Have they forgotten what it really is about? Let me give you a few examples of what I am talking about.
What are you planning today?
This is an actual conversation.
Me: What are you doing today?
Friend: Well, I am going to meditate
Me: On what?
Friend: I don’t know, just feel like it.
Me: Hmm, that is good. What else today?
Friend: I thought I would work on my chakras, read the book that I have read for ten times, just to see if I missed anything, research a new magickal ability that I saw on TV, and then meditate some more.
Me: All before lunch?
Friend: Going to try. I have a few things that I would like to do after dinner
Now here is the breaking point with me. I am thinking they are going to do errands, clean, you know the “normal world” things. Am I on the right track? No.
Me: What are the big plans for the eveing then?
Friend: I am going to work on astral traveling, remote view on people that I want to see what they are up to and then clear my chakras
The conversation goes on but I think you get the jest of things here. This is a conversation I have had not once but many, many times with a handful of friends. They spend their time working on these things. What happened to just letting things happen naturally?
While these people are working so hard on these tasks have they gotten any closer to enlightenment? No. They are not working on that. Remember they are working on the smaller things of the Path. Those things that razzle dazzle. Pursuits of higher magick, as I am told.
I decided to compare conversations. I decided to contact 25 friends and associates just to see what they had planned. I did this over a period of 2 weeks. Not exactly a wondrous study, but long enough for me to personally come to a conclusion. In the two week period, 6 of the 25 were on daily schedules of “must do” 1 actually was so engrossed in the scheduling that they forgot to do regular tasks that were important in our day to day lives, like paying bills. The remaining people practiced certain things on either a daily or monthly schedule. I found that 3 rarely meditated, did chakra workings or even did rituals. Yet these 3 did each and every day pay homage to their chosen diety. They worked on the path of enlightenment. Living their daily lives with inner balance and mystical freedom in knowing that inside they were worshiping.
I asked them why they didn’t schedule free time around higher magick. Two of the three laughed at me, and that third I can not put into print what he said. Explaining that they lived the magick and mystical inside, they did practice yet not on a schedule. There were more important things to them than bending a candle flame between their palms. It was the true love and devotion to their chosen paths. You just can’t schedule visions, inspiration and devotion.
In thinking about all these conversations, I did see a pattern. Those that did not schedule their free time with magickal and mystical practices were more comfortable in who and what they have become. Over a period of time these people have graced others with insight into the loving world of our Divine ones. They have striven for a perfection in the enlightenment of spiritualism from within. Focusing on what is really important, balance, love and living the life of those in the Craft. Going with the Universe and what it wishes us to learn and at our own speed. Granting each a skill, an ability or inner knowledge into their world.
I am not saying that we should not practice what we have been given. Just not to the point that it is a full time job.
Let the Universe speak to you. Give in to just “being”.
