Having It All

“Those whose palm-kernels were cracked for them by a benevolent spirit should not forget to be humble"–Chinese Proverb

“Well you finally have it all.” A statement that was written to me by my mother in an email. Reading that made me think. It never occurred to me in that light. Yet, I ponder is it true?

Having it all is construed as the materialistic items in which we own. Things as it may be, houses, clothes, jewelry and other toys. These are very important to own but are they what makes a person feel totally complete? I love the idea of owning such things, and at this point of life I actually do. Thinking further does this fact make me any happier within?

It is not the things that are in my life that enhance my happiness. Homes and other items are fill ins that are needed. What I have found that makes me feel complete are the basic inner feelings of “balance.” Balance in areas that come from within not the external comforts. My family enhances this feeling of comfort and balance. Finding that even in those trying times of hectic family life there is always something to smile about and give thanks to the Lords and Lady for.

Taking stock of what really gives us the feeling of having it all should be done on a regular basis. We, as individuals, seem to over look the inner workings of our daily lives. We find it hard to look inward seeing what is there. Often times we see the things that are wrong and ignore the things that went right. We place to much emphasis on those “bad days” and neglect the good.

How to get that feeling of having it all

Seems pretty easy to me. Look inward at your belief structure . A good hard look, not a brief glance. I am sure that you will find that you have been blessed with so many things that you may become overwhelmed.

Each of us has our path to follow. Leading us to find adventures of self discovery and hopefully to the path of higher enlightenment. Practioners of the Art often find that each new revelation, ability or knowledge leads them one step closer to where it is they wish to be. We as Occultists find that our biggest self gratification is signals from the Deities that we have chosen. Or those that have chosen us if that is the case. Finding that comfort may be taken by what we practice. Our lives is our practice. We may not cast spells, do rituals or whatever each day but we do use what we believe in daily.

In many ways I surmise that I do have it all. I have a wonderful family unit, dear friends that are supportive and just a little whacked out, and inner balance. I have found that one of the most important things in life is just that. Life. It is not the fixtures and trimmings that dress it up but the structure of being on a path that fills every day with such glory and richness. This I attribute to the knowledge that I have gained through much study with the help of those Gods and Goddesses which help me to discover what is important and meaningful in life.

I pondered even further as to what having it all really means to me. The conclusion was simple. I have been blessed with family, friends and gifted colleagues. My belief structure which is not for everyone has given me a sense of balance and inner peace. My travels now are not so laden with the hurts and wrongs of the past. Each day I know that I will be given a fresh palette to paint a vibrant and mystical portrait. It is mine to paint and choose to do the best of that which I can.

I have found peace within. That to me is having it all.

We each have it all in different ways.
