Fires of the Lair and Household
Written by Staff Dragon: Draconis
Fires.
There is nothing quite as comforting as a warm, safe, secure
fire in the night.
Safe Fire.
How often were my Honoured Ancestors unjustly accused of burning
villages and torching forests? We did not do it. You ‘humans’ did -
or came the lighting from the heavens. We Draconis did not.
We know better.
Build your fires in an enclosed stove or a fireplace. Franklin stoves
are very good for heating a room. They are also very decorative.
Fireplaces are also good. Use metal or glass screens to contain the
fire’s flames.
Set your Franklin on a base of fire-brick. You need to do this because
the legs of the stove can get quite warm. Besides - it looks nice.
A black stove, with black metal venting flue on a base of brown and
red brick. A decorating and household design tip from the Dragon’s
Lair.
You must not forget the ashes in either the stove or fireplace. This is
where the small shovel that comes with the fireplace tools is useful.
You will also need a small metalic bucket. You do not want wood.
Some of those ashes might still be hot! Consecrate a place in your
back-garden
and bury the ashes there. You will be keeping the Fire-Elementals
happy.
You will also not be filling up your household with ashes.
Please - my ‘humans’ - remember to open the flue when the fire is lit.
You don’t want smoke in your household. Smoke alarms are so loud and
noisy.
Smoke is also not good for you ‘humans’ to breathe.
As another design and decorating tip you can also use the top of the
firplace
as place to display your treaured trinkets and treasures. I use mine to
display my own special treasures.
Stay warm, my ‘humans’. You cannot endure and survive the cold as we
Draconis do.
Keep your fire’s safely contained. Use fire wisely. It will serve you
well.
I shall return….
